One query that we come across regularly, particularly over recent months, is why strategic funding has become harder to come by for businesses – not just in TMT, but across the board.

While other sectors have seen the worst impacts, TMT has by no means had an easy ride. This has been compounded by a slowdown in deal-making between businesses and in investments made by private equity firms.

Barclays is as we say, however, ‘open for business’ and has signed and
funded a number of transactions for strategic debt finance in 2009.

To help businesses that are looking to raise finance in excess of £10m, Barclays has produced a guide laying out what areas are important to us, and what we take into consideration in reviewing business cases. I hope this might be of use to TMT businesses seeking to take advantage of opportunities in the downturn.
